The world pole vault record-holder cleared the world-leading height at the Jablonec Indoor Gala, while Richard Kilty clocked 6.50 to win the 60m

Renaud Lavillenie continued on his path to Portland by clearing a world-leading 6.03m at the Jablonec Indoor Gala on Saturday (March 5).

The world pole vault record-holder improved on his 6.02m clearance in Clermont-Ferrand and 5.93m win at the French Championships last month by clearing a height in Czech Republic that only he and two other athletes have ever managed indoors.

He then went on to attempt 6.10m three times.

Also among those competing in Jablonec was Britain's Max Eaves, who set a 5.64m PB to finish fourth despite using borrowed poles.

Emmanouil Karalis of Greece cleared 5.54m for a world under-18 best and placed fifth.

Britain's world and European 60m champion Richard Kilty, who was disqualified for a false start in last weekend's Indoor British Championships semi-finals, returned to the track to clock 6.50 for the second-fastest time in the world so far this year behind Asafa Powell's 6.49. It is also Kilty's second-quickest time of his career after the 6.49 he clocked in 2014 to win his world title in Sopot.

Kilty, who withdrew himself from selection for the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland later this month in order to concentrate on the outdoor season, finished ahead of fellow Briton Theo Etienne, with the 19-year-old clocking a 6.56 PB.

Michelle-Lee Ahye ran 7.10 to win the women's event and equal her own Trinidad and Tobago record.

USA's Jarret Eaton won the men's 60m hurdles in 7.54, while Britain's Tiffany Porter clocked 7.89 to win the women's race.
